As well as supplying a service that helps our customer with climate change mitigation we also have a number of in house measures that help to reduce our own carbon footprint:
- Minimising electricity consumption
- Route planning to minimise vehicle use
- Using a bicycle or walking to run errands in the vicinity of our premises
- Offering bus pass payments and secure bicycling storage to staff members
- Using volunteers to carry out commercially unviable but environmentally helpful tasks
- Using second hand items instead of new wherever it is feasable
- Use of wood instead of steel for shelving if possible
- Using screws instead of glue and nails for construction so that the wood can be reused
- Composting kitchen waste
- Reuse of second hand packaging
- Using cardboard or wood instead of plastic for storage of stock items
- Supplying oatmilk as an alternative to cows milk
Future mitigatation measures include using biodiesel or electricity for vehicles.
